Parenting With Joy

Below is an excerpt from the Parenting with Joy Workbook:

Parenting with joy is to experience a moment free of fear or worry. Freeing ourselves from the fear that are children will not be seen for the beautiful, kind, and wonderfully made humans that they are.

Joy is liberating. Joy is resistance. Joy is a feeling. Joy is what I want my children to experience.

When we lean into joy, we find pleasure in the path that has chosen us. The gift we have to love another human being. The gift of seeing their smiling faces. The gift of hugs and kisses.

Our children, seeing us embracing joy, will see how wonderful it is and will want some for themselves.

Black children deserve joy in a world that may not give it to them. This is their birthright.

Joy is my legacy. I experience it in the sparkle in my child's eyes, their first smile, and catching a firefly.

I pass it on to the next generations.
